Why We Built This
OF/BY/FOR ALL equips civic and cultural organizations around the world to matter more to more people. Since our founding, we’ve focused on creating digital tools to help teams make inclusive institutional change. Over the past two years, we’ve worked with 60 organizations in 11 countries in the OF/BY/FOR ALL Change Network - an intensive digital year-long program to build stronger community relationships.
When the novel coronavirus hit, we knew we wanted to find a way to help organizations and leaders seeking new paths to transformation. We see now as a time when organizations have the potential to make radical leaps forward in their commitment to inclusion, equity, and community relevance. We also know busy teams need support now, on their own schedule, in short bursts, and that may not line up with joining the year-long Change Network program.
So, we created this 5-week, flexible ReVision program focused on institutional reinvention.
We believe the teams that come out of this crisis in the strongest position will be those that courageously reimagine their organizations with community at the center. And we believe ReVision will help you do just that.
If you complete ReVision and you’re interested in going further, you may apply to continue working with us in the intensive year-long Change Network program. In that program, you’ll get more digital tools, plus expert coaching, a global cohort, and a framework for progress tracking. But joining the Change Network is not expected nor required. Whether you continue with us or not, you’ll leave ReVision with an inspired vision you can use to build a more relevant, sustainable future.
We get it. Time is limited. And time to dream? Even more precious.
We built the ReVision program to help your team efficiently and radically reimagine your organization’s long-term potential.
In five focused 2-hour sessions, the ReVision program will enable you to sketch out a roadmap for reinvention and identify key assets and stakeholders to make it possible.
In this program, you will:
Unlearn old assumptions that are no longer serving you
Identify key communities and potential partners in reinvention
Map relevant institutional values and assets that you can build on
Create a bold, inclusive vision of a brighter future
Sketch a plan to share your vision with stakeholders who can help bring it to life
How It Works.
ReVision is simple by design. Each Monday, we’ll send you an email with all the information you need to self-facilitate that week’s activities on your own schedule. You’ll have an hour on your own at the beginning of the week, a question to discuss with your team during the week, and 15 minutes of reflection at the end of the week. Each session can be done entirely virtually and can accommodate any number of team members participating.
We suggest you think broadly about who might have diverse perspectives, experiences, and creative ideas to bring into the ReVision program. We’ve found that the best institutional change efforts involve “diagonal” teams with people from different departments and levels of power in the organization. Often, it is people with less power, people of color, or people whose voices have been ignored who have the most potent and thoughtful visions for change.
By the end of the program, you’ll have a sketch of a powerful, community-centered vision you can use as the basis for institutional strategy, fundraising pitches, and stakeholder engagement.
Meet Your Instructor
ReVision is a self-guided program hosted by Nina Simon, our founder and CEO, in conversation with guest practitioners from cultural and civic organizations. Typically, OF/BY/FOR ALL programs are led by our incredible Programs team - Raquel Thompson, Lauren Benetua, and Mateo Mossey. Because of the urgent challenges presented by the coronavirus, we decided to keep our Programs team focused on supporting members of the Change Network - our highest-intensity, highest-impact program. Nina stepped in to create this new ReVision program as a way to help changemakers outside the Change Network, based on her expertise in community participation and relevance and past experience as the turnaround director of a museum in crisis.
Our hope is this program will offer you some value right now - and help you and your team consider the potential for deeper work to come.
